Welcome to Principia Humanica
Principia Humanica is an evolving attempt to build a clear, rigorous, and intuitive framework for understanding life, intelligence, consciousness, and meaning—using the shared language of information, energy, entropy, and computation.
This is a work in progress: definitions are still being sharpened, arguments stress‑tested, and the “core graph” is still crystallizing. What you see here is a living project that’s intended to keep growing.
What this wiki is (and isn’t)
- It’s a modular wiki: most pages are designed to stand alone (definitions, claims, syntheses) so new ideas can be added without rewriting everything.
- It’s a knowledge graph: concepts link laterally, not just in a straight line.
- It’s also becoming a book: the end result will include one or more recommended reading paths—curated progressions through the graph.
Teasers: what’s coming
- Causality vs determinism vs free will — why “causal” doesn’t imply “predictable,” and why agency may be best framed in terms of noncomputability.
- Consciousness as boundary / interiority — why the inside/outside distinction (a system boundary) may be the missing bridge between physics, biology, and first‑person experience.
- Meaning as impact — treating meaning as information that actually changes an observing system, not just “data in the world.”
- Life, intelligence, consciousness — three faces of a single anti‑dissipative process: preserving structure, expanding options, and exporting entropy.
